EDE470 Topics in Online Teaching

This mini-course's goal is to empower higher education faculty who are early-on in the development of their online teaching practice, with specific knowledge and skills to design and implement effective online learning experiences for their participants for a variety of instructional contexts. Some of these contexts include; fully online courses or lessons, blended (or hybrid-online), web-enhanced face-to-face courses, and professional development programs, orientations, and training sessions.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Experience an online course as a student participant
2. Define and explain key online learning skills and practices
3. Evaluate online lessons for motivational impact on participants
4. Identify and apply assessment methods in online lessons
5. Explain necessary elements for building online community
6. Identify and explain essential criteria for quality online lessons
7. Create and critique a basic online lesson
